The People Who Shaped Us – Dianne Wearden
Dianne Wearden has been a longtime contributor to the sport of rope skipping in Canada. She is known for her dedication to developing the sport at the grassroots level, particularly through coaching and leading the Alleycatz skipping club in Grimshaw, Alberta, which has provided both recreational and competitive opportunities for young athletes for many years.
Over the years, Dianne has also volunteered in leadership roles within the sport, including serving as a Director at Large with Rope Skipping Alberta, helping support the growth and organization of rope skipping programs across the province.
Through her coaching, volunteer work, and commitment to youth sport, Dianne has played an important role in building the rope skipping community in Alberta and inspiring the next generation of athletes.
My daughter and her friend wanted to attend the workshop and while there asked if they could purchase ropes. When they returned, they said they wanted to form their own team and was told all needed was a coach, “so we volunteered you.” – Dianne
