Call for Committee Member Volunteers

Rope Skipping Alberta invites members to submit their interest to serve on its committees or fill one of its positions. All roles are volunteer and require approximately a one-year commitment.


Interest can be submitted through the Committee and Position Application Form by June 25, 2018.  Please fill out and email to ropeskippingalberta.board@gmail.com

 

Volunteers are needed for the following committees and positions:

 

Athlete Development Committee: This committee will provide leadership in the planning and execution of the athlete workshops at the 2019 RSA Masters and 2019 RSA Team Competitions. This committee will also review strategic initiatives from an athlete development perspective and provide recommendations based on Rope Skipping Canada’s Long-Term Athlete Development Model.

Coaching Committee: This committee will provide leadership in the planning and execution of the coaching development initiatives at the 2019 RSA Masters and 2019 RSA Team Competitions. This committee will also review strategic initiatives from a coaching development perspective and provide recommendations based on Rope Skipping Canada’s Long-Term Athlete Development Model.

Officials Committee: This committee will provide leadership in the planning and execution of officials development initiatives, including oversight of the Judging Coordinators. This committee will also review strategic initiatives from an officials development perspective, including the training of Technical Committee members, and provide recommendations based on the general model for the long-term development of officials.

Competition Planning (New in 2018)The committee will provide recommendations for improvements to the current competition structure in Alberta to ensure that aligns with Rope Skipping Canada’s Long-Term Athlete Development model. It will lead the introduction of the AdultSkip Challenge, and provide recommendations on a variety of initiatives as requested by the Board of Directors such as the implementation of overall provincial champions, introductory of pre-competitive opportunities, school inclusion. This committee is separate from any committees form for the 2019 RSC National Championships.

Competition Hosting Committee (formerly Competitions Committee): This committee will focus on the logistics of hosting of competitions in 2019, including the 2019 RSA Masters Competition, 2019 RSA Team Competition, and 2019 Alberta Rope Skipping Championships. This committee is separate from any committees form for the 2019 RSC National Championships.

Bylaws CommitteeThis committee will be reviewing the current bylaws for any general housekeeping changes. The committee will either make the recommendation to the Board of Directors to present changes at the 2019 Annual General Meeting, or will advise the Board of Directors that it does recommend changes.

Finance Committee: With the change in the fiscal year, the Finance Committee will convene to develop a budget for the 2019 fiscal year in alignment with the strategic priorities identified by the Board of Directors.

Ethics CommitteeThis committee shall deal with discipline matters and dispute resolution matters that fall outside of the scope of routine decisions governed by Rope Skipping Alberta’s policies or bylaws.

Nominating Committee: This committee considers the needs of the Board of Directors and seeks to identify and recruit candidates with complementary skills in order to present a full slate of nominees for open positions at the Annual General Meeting.

Social Media CoordinatorThe Social Media Coordinator(s) is (are) responsible for web-based communication content in collaboration with Rope Skipping Alberta’s Chair and Secretary, and implementation of communications and advertising vehicles to help create momentum and awareness of Rope Skipping Alberta.

Judging Coordinators: The Judging Coordinator(s) is (are) responsible for developing and implementing an annual plan for the training of judges in Alberta. This includes the integration of opportunities for web-based training opportunities through the use of technology. The Judging Coordinators will develop the judging schedule and be available at competitions to resolve judging concerns.
